1987年の第40回世界保健機関(WHO総会において､会において､昭和1988年4月7日を｢世界禁煙デー｣とすることが決議されました｡さらに､1989年の第42回WHO総会において､同年以後毎年5月31日を｢世界禁煙デー｣とすることが決議されました｡
